New Year’s « Reset » SMOOTHIE de remise à zéro pour la nouvelle année

After all those meals and what we’ve consumed during the holiday season, nothing beats a « Reset » to boost our metabolism and burn some fat.

To help with your diet, here’s a fat-burning smoothie recipe packed with vitamins and minerals, dietary fiber, and antioxidants. It’s made with pineapple, mango, lemon, ginger, turmeric, and mint.

These natural ingredients work together to stimulate digestion, promote the elimination of toxins and increase energy expenditure.

Metabolism stimulation

The combination of lemon, ginger, and turmeric all directly influence the body’s heat production, resulting in increased calorie burning. Ginger, in particular, has metabolism-boosting properties. Turmeric helps reduce inflammation associated with fat storage and supports metabolic function. Finally, the vitamin C content of lemon is essential for energy metabolism.

Digestion

The synergy between pineapple, mint and mango promotes efficient digestion, prevents bloating and other digestive disorders.

Detoxification and Fat Elimination

All the ingredients in this smoothie contribute to optimal liver function. The liver plays a central role in fat elimination.

Reset

Controlling appetite and reducing cravings is crucial for « resetting » eating habits. Fiber (in this case, from pineapple and mango) creates a feeling of fullness and increases the volume of food in the digestive tract. Combined with the aroma and compounds of fresh mint, they can act as a natural appetite suppressant.

In short, as you’ve probably guessed, this smoothie is perfect for starting the year off on the right foot!

« Reset » Smoothie: A fresh start for the New Year

For one glass, you need…

  • 140g (or about 2 slices) of peeled pineapple
  • 180g (ou 0,5) mango, pitted and peeled
  • 1 cube (25g) Frozen morning bomb
  • 1 Fresh mint sprig, leaves only
  • Water

—

  1. In the bowl of a blender, add the pineapple and mango pieces, morning bomb cube, mint leaves and cover with water.
  2. Blend until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding water.
  3. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy immediately.

New Year’s Reset Smoothie

  • Eau

—

‘Banana Chantal’ Milkshake ‘Banane Chantal’

Why call this milkshake « Banana Chantal Milkshake »? What is « Banana Chantal »?

It all comes from my childhood where the peanut butter and banana couple was often found in my breakfasts and snacks. This is very North American as a use and for them, very « ordinary ». Now living in Belgium, I continue this habit by sharing it with my children and also with my friends.

Fermented Guacamole SMOOTHIE Guacamole fermenté

Fermented foods have been popular for a long time because they are beneficial to health. When we talk about fermented foods, we mainly think of sauerkraut, which is the most popular and most common. But there are also vegetables in vinegar – pickles – and drinks like Kombucha. But do you know about fermented milk? Different from yogurt, fermented milk is cow’s, goat’s or sheep’s milk to which lactic ferments are added (different from those for yogurt) which allow acidification and gelling of the milk by transforming lactose (the sugar contained in milk) into lactic acid. It will therefore be more acidic and creamier than classic milk. It is somewhere between regular milk and yogurt.

During the winter period, I really like to drink lattes. I find the creaminess of this drink comforting whether it is served hot or cold.

Since it is the holiday season, I want to drink a rather « festive » version, worthy of the holiday season and, why not, in keeping with the theme of my Christmas series.

Hydrating Fresh Green Juice / Jus vert frais et hydratant

Having a lot of mint and not wasting it requires imagination! As I mentioned in my October 7th Post about the mint from my garden and the desire to add it to recipes that are different or a little more special than mint syrup (to name just this one), why not use it in a good green vegetable juice? Finding mint in a Frozen Yoghurt Magnum, in a celery salad or like here in a vegetable juice, I find that these are different and original ways to include it. What do you think?

Mango, Orange and Turmeric Smoothie mangue, orange et curcuma

I made fresh orange juice for the mocktail I prepared for my guests last night. Of course, there was some orange pulp left over that I kept in the fridge to reuse. You know how I don’t throw away food or should I say, as little as possible! I had also frozen some mango pieces before they were too ripe. So, I thought that combining the orange pulp and the mango pieces together to make a smoothie a great idea! A zero waste idea that fits my habits of trashing food as little as possible.

Flu & Cold Buster Juice / Jus anti-grippe & rhume

In winter, the cold and flu season begins. With a healthy diet and lifestyle, you can escape it.

In fact, it is possible to prevent colds or flu by regularly consuming certain foods. It is also possible to react as soon as the first symptoms appear. With antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E and beta-carotene, it is possible to reduce the intensity and duration of the flu or cold. So I made you a delicious juice concentrated in antioxidants. You can boost your immune system today!

Vitamin C to Reduce Cold Symptoms

Vitamin C plays a role in infection control and is a powerful antioxidant. It also intervenes in the immune system. Although a popular solution, vitamin C has no significant effect on the common cold, but may provide moderate benefit by reducing the duration and severity of the cold in some people. (source)

Vitamin Foods

The best sources of vitamin C are: citrus fruits, peppers, strawberries, tomatoes and cruciferous vegetables. But leafy vegetables, garlic, onion, tomatoes and many other foods are just as important in this preventive role.

In fact, a healthy diet, that is, eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables daily, generally helps reduce illnesses and viruses.

In juice form, these foods are an excellent source of easily assimilated vitamins. Fighting colds or flu on a daily basis becomes child’s play. If you don’t have a juice extractor, a blender works just as well. The only difference will be that you will have the fiber as a bonus. Your microbiota will be more than happy!

Come on, let’s get a little anti-cold and anti-flu “pick-me-up”?!?

Anti-Flu and Cold Juice

For 4-6 shooters, you need…

  • 1 blood orange, peeled
  • 1 broccoli stem, peeled
  • 1 tangerine, peeled
  • 1 lemon, peeled
  • 1 carrot
  • 0.5 pepper (red or yellow), cored and quartered
  • 2.5cm fresh ginger
  • 1cm fresh turmeric
  • pinch of cayenne pepper

—

  1. Cut vegetables and fruits so that they pass easily through the juice extractor conduit.
  2. Place all ingredients in a juice extractor or blender and blend until smooth.
  3. Pour into glasses, add a pinch of cayenne and drink immediately.
  4. Can be stored for 24 hours in the refrigerator in an airtight dark glass container. (see note)

In Health,

Chantal

Note: Fresh fruit and vegetable juices oxidize quickly and this is why it is best to drink them directly after making. On the other hand, if the container is made of glass (brown or dark glass) that does not allow light to pass through and it closes airtight, the juice can be kept in the refrigerator until the next day.

Flu Buster Ingredients anti-grippe

Jus anti-grippe & rhume

Pour 4-6 shooter, tu as besoin de…

  • 1 orange sanguine, pelée
  • 1 tronc brocoli, pelé
  • 1 mandarine, pelée
  • 1 citron, pelé
  • 1 carotte

Pimped Pina Colada Smoothie Pina Colada « Pimpé »

When a desire for exoticism and tropicalism arises at the same time as a promotion on pineapples, it’s party time!

Pineapple is a super versatile fruit. Indeed, it is perfect in tartare, in carpaccio, mashed or juiced, grilled or smoked, hot or cold. Whether it’s for dessert (see recipe here, here and here), breakfast (like here or here) or even as a fermented drink (see example here), it doesn’t matter, I love this fruit!

Pina Colada as a Smoothie, it’s a sunny vacation for taste buds!

Today, I made a Pina Colada Smoothie to satisfy my tropical vacation craving. Without alcohol but with, of course, whole coconut milk. The kind that is found in cans with all the fat part on top. Then I added mint to give it a bit of freshness and tahini to make it even more delicious.

After drinking this frothy juice in Brazil, I consider mint and pineapple to be inseparable. This association is locked forever in my palette of tastes. So, mint goes without saying in the list of ingredients just like coconut milk or cream.

Pimped Smoothie? Yes!

Then, to give it a lucious twist, I added tahini, this sesame puree rich in protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals. I also « pimped » it by adding powdered maca, this tuber whose nutritional value is very rich.

That’s it for a rich, creamy, smooth and lucious smoothie!

Pimped Pina Colada Smoothie

For 1 person, you need…

  • 1/4 pineapple, peeled, core removed and cut into chunks (frozen or fresh)
  • 30ml whole coconut milk (canned type)
  • 15ml whole sesame puree (tahini)
  • 1 sprig of fresh mint, leaves only
  • 5 ml maca powder
  • cold water and a few ice cubes if the pineapple is fresh and not frozen
  • 0.5 lime, juice and/or zest (optional)

—

  1. In a blender or with an immersion blender, beat all the ingredients together until smooth and creamy. Add cold water or ice cubes as needed.
  2. Pour into a glass. Serve immediately.

NOTE: For an extra layer of indulgence, add a teaspoon of sesame cream, a few drops of lime juice and some zest on top!

After a break of several months, I’m back at my keyboard to present you brand new recipes. Always in a healthy and zero waste mode.

Human and Earth Health

Indeed, the health and longevity of humans as well as that of the planet is more important to me than ever. After the passing of my dad and the growing observation of illnesses among friends around me, I can only want to try to do my best.

Making Exotic Meals

Combining health with divers and tasty food, that is my goal. My recent trips to Spain and Portugal have made me crave fish and seafood, different spices and including firery ones like Spanish pimentòn, grilled meats, multiple small portions (tapas), exoticism much wider and farther than just the South. The theme for this new (school) year will be under this thirst for exoticism. My planned recipes will tickle your taste buds and amuse your guests.

Health and good taste, it’s possible

Let’s start this period with a breakfast or a snack completely in keeping with the idea of exoticism and health. Papaya is a southern fruit that is little used in the north. When I find it on sale, I buy several. Before these are no longer good, I cut them up and freeze them. It’s super convenient to add to different recipes and that way, I don’t waste any of it!

The powdered superfoods as well as the choice of seeds used in this recipe, have functions (contributions) for good health. Omega-3, vitamins, minerals, fiber, iron, calcium, potassium, flavonoids, proteins are the main ¨health¨ actors of these ingredients.

So let’s go to your blender and prepare this!

Papaya and date smoothie bowl

For a bowl you need,

  • 60g Frozen Papaya
  • 20-30g pitted dates
  • 15-20g or 1 tbsp Tahini
  • 1 tbsp ground flax
  • 1 tbsp sunflower seeds
  • 1 tsp Ashwagandha powder
  • 1 tsp maca powder
  • water

For decoration

  • Oatmeal
  • Flax seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds
  • Pecans
  • Drizzle of pekmez (or date syrup)

—

  1. Put all the ingredients (except those for the decoration) in a blender with 300ml of water or more according to the desired consistency.
  2. Put in a bowl and add the decorative ingredients.

Health!

Chantal

  • 1 cs lin moulu
  • 1 cs graines tournesols
  • 1 ct poudre Ashwagandha
  • 1 ct poudre maca
  • eau

Pour la décoration

  • Flocon d’avoine
  • Graines de lin, sésames, tournesols
  • Noix de pecan
  • Filet de pekmez (ou sirop de dattes)

—
